Sunrise at Fushimi Inari, 19.5"x15.5", oil on canvas, 2025. (Glazed, watermarked, and low-res here)
It started with a cherry blossom painting in January, dreaming of spring. That got me reminiscing about one of my favorite vacations, a trip to Tokyo and Kyoto in the fall of 2019. The hike at the Fushimi Inari shrine at sunrise was a highlight of my time there. I love bright colors, so to see thousands of vermillion torii gates glowing in the first light of the day before anyone else was there was awesome.
This painting is on view and for sale at Fogue Studios and Gallery from April 5th until May 25th. It was juried into The Power of Color show organized by Puget Sound Group Northwest Artists. I framed it with a black stepped frame to add to the tunnel effect of the painting.
